& THE GANGSTER

        After the fall of the Dango Dynasty, the bustling country Nistle fell in chaos, and was divided by two sects, the mafias and the gangsters. Due to differences in ideas, a war ensued. After that long bloody war with no victor, the mafia ruled the rich side, and the gangster ruled the poor side.  The country had been in constant turmoil as the gangsters and the mafia’s had frequent clashes over the years for ruler ship over the entire country. With rumors of a great power locked inside the lost Dango Vault. They gangsters and Mafias began the search. For whoever found it, will win the war.
        The sun was going down, as children working in the factory were preparing to leave as they had gathered enough scrap for the day to sell. Two teenage boys, Mike and Tyler grew up in the poor side of the city and they knew each other right from childhood. After work, they sat on pile of rubbish talking, “Mike have you ever wondered how the other side will be, if we ever go there?” Tyler asked, “I heard people who make it to the other side are living a good life”. “We can never know, maybe the died on their way”, Mike said. “Did you know that the buildings over there are so high?” Tyler said in awe, as he demonstrated by raising his hands high, “and also they have this fast cars, and a box like thing you can see people through and also, what if I told you there was a way you can talk to a loved one who is far away without meeting them one on one through a small box. Why don’t we go there, it will be fun” Tyler said. “I would like to but, I don’t have time for a lousy endeavor that can take my life”, Mike said smiling as he stood up to go home. “But Mike...”, Tyler kept pestering Mike to follow him and sneak into the other side.
  Out of the bushes someone jumped out and pounced on Mike and Tyler who were walking home together. “Ah!”, Mike and Tyler screamed like girly girls. “Kate, you almost scared us to death” Tyler cried out. Kate is known to be a tough girl but her looks didn’t match her great strength and she is quite pretty. She is a little bit older than Mike and Tyler, despite the age difference she still hanged out with them. Mike had a crush on Kate but Kate liked Tyler and Tyler did not like her. So it was a love triangle. “I found an amazing place inside the aztoc cave, follow me you will be awe struck I promise you that” she explained. She hurried, dragging both Mike and Tyler by hand, they tried their best to free themselves but couldn’t because she was stronger.
“Kate what do you even eat”, Tyler said as he tried to free himself.
“Here we are”, Kate said looking at the dark cave that looked so...
“Creepy”, Mike said. “Why did you bring us here?” he asked.
  “Yeah, exactly is this what will make us awe struck? I just see a creepy cave”, Tyler said as he wanted to head home with Mike. “Stop!”, Kate roared at Mike and Tyler who froze as, though they were little scared cats. “Come here”. She grabbed them both on the collar and pulled them into the cave. Into the scary cave, as they entered Mike and Tyler closed their eyes and gave up the struggle, as they could not escape Kate’s fist.
  Kate threw them both on the ground.  “Open thou eyes and see thy hidden beauty”, Kate said waving her hand. Mike opened his eyes and said in awe, “Oh my God!”. Tyler laid down on the ground like a dead man with his eyes closed. As soon as he heard Mike, he stood up in shock. “What, what….” Tyler stopped talking as the beauty he saw shut him up. Both Mike and Tyler’s jaw fell open as they stood up from the floor. Kate waved her hands at Mike and Tyler’s eyes. She laughed hard and immediately ran towards a beautiful river nearby. “Catch up if you can”, she screamed. Mike and Tyler joined her and ran with joy to the river. The three jumped into the river splashing and swimming around.
It became dark, but the full moon radiated the entire garden. Its beauty was even more dazzling than the morning or evening. They three layed on the ground, after having their full of fun. “Why don’t we come back here tomorrow?”, Mike asked. “Yeah, it will be fun. How does this place exist without us even knowing?” Tyler asked. “True, they even told us horror stories about this cave when we were kids”, Kate said. “What was it again…, yes the said the cave was home to Anunika, the demon lord”. Kate said this to frighten both Mike and Tyler. But they didn’t flinch a bit as they were busy admiring the night sky.
They went back into the cave to leave but instead found themselves in another place. “What the hell”, Tyler said. “Did we not enter the exit?” he asked. “Sure”, Kate said. “Where is this place?”, Mike asked. It looked like they entered a palace which was beautified with all sort of precious stones, gold coins and utensils which laid around on the floor. They looked at each other and rushed to pack as much gold they can get hold off. As they packed the gold coins into their pockets, Mike took off his shirt to gather more. Immediately, they heard a weird sound, immediately a small fiery ball shot at them from a Dragon statue that was on the four corner. It shot them on their chest. They all fell to the ground and felt an excruciating pain. Kate stood up amidst the blast from those Dragons mouth and held both Mike and Tyler’s hand and pulled them into the cave leaving the gold. Now, they got out completely from the cave, Kate fell on the floor and took in a deep breath of freedom. They laid on the ground and looked at each other laughing.
    It was in the late night, when they got to the junction that divided them. They said their goodbyes and ran in opposite directions. Mike got home to see his father sitting on a wooden chair smoking, while his little brother played with a doll that had no hands, but it's head and leg were intact.  Mike gave his father a few dollars he got from the factory, “You bring nothing”, his dad said bluntly. “That all I could get dad”, he said in fear looking down. Mike’s father stood up and punched him on the right side of his cheek, Mike fell down as blood spilled on the floor. “What the hell will this do for me huh?”, Mike’s dad asked, as he cursed him until there was no more curse words he could think of. He went out jaywalking as he smoked. That was the last straw for Mike. He was abused enough and could longer see his little brother hungry while his father drank and slept with prostitutes with the little money they had. He then remembered what Tyler said for them to sneak into the rich side. Mike’s little brother sat there in silence, with his hands wrapped around his doll tightly in fear. Mike stood up and walked to his brother, he bends down and brings out a candy stick from his pocket and gives it to him, the small boy joyfully thanked him. Mike rubs his little brother’s hair and gave way to smile. Mike went into his room and laid on his bed, he felt a burning sensation on his left chest where the fiery ball hit, he took off his top and saw a shape that looked like a crescent moon marked on his chest. So did Kate and Tyler who had the same mark but were dumbfounded at what it meant.
      The day was filled with dark clouds and it was raining heavily, the street was full of mud and portholes. Mike hurried as he jogs in the rain, the portholes on road makes it no easier for him or others passing by. “Knock, knock”, Mike knocked on Tyler’s door several times as the rain made it impossible for someone to hear but luckily a voice answered, “coming”. Mike stopped knocking as he got a response, creak, crook, creak the old wooden door made this sound as it was opened. “Who are you?” Tyler’s dad asked.  He was advanced in years and had a poor eyesight. “Mike, sir” he answered. “Oh!” Tyler’s dad remembered.  “Come in. Sorry I didn’t recognize you sooner”. Mike came inside, his clothes was drenched, Tyler’s dad closed the door. “Thank you sir, is Tyler home?”, Mike asked. “Yeah, he is up stairs with Kate, just a moment, Tyler! Tyler!”. “Yes father”, Tyler answered. “Mike is looking for you!”, “Am coming”, Tyler responded. Tyler’s dad turns to Mike, “Son am going back to my workshop, see you later”. He taps Mike on the shoulder and walks into a room on the right side with his staff. “Hey Mike what are you doing here today? It’s Sunday there is no work at the factory unless you want to get arrested by the cops”, Tyler asked and smiled as he gives Mike a cup of water. Mike took a sip and said, “No but guys something happened yesterday”.
“Do you mean a crescent moon mark on your chest?”, Tyler asked.
“Exactly” he responded.
“That is what I and Tyler were even discussing before you came in”. Kate said.
“So you guys have the mark?”, Mike asked. Mike took of his shirt to show them.
“Wait your mark’s color is white”, Kate said. “What about you Tyler?”, she asked.
“Black”, he responded.
“Mine is red, oh my God is this related to what happened to us yesterday?”, Kate asked in shock.
“It is, it’s surely is. All the weird stuff that happened to us yesterday was in that mysterious cave. Kate, the all wanna know, took us into the cave without our permission”, Tyler said frustrated.
“I am sorry guys”, Kate apologized.
“It’s not your fault, what is done is done”, Mike said. “In fact, I came here because of another matter. Kate, Tyler let’s sneak into the rich part of the city” he said, looking anxiously at them.
